#ActivitiesStrong and TimeSlips to Illuminate Senior Living in 2021 with Shine Your Light: A Creative Care Celebration

Written by Charles de Vilmorin | January 06, 2021

There is no question that 2020 was the most challenging year in the history of the senior living industry. Senior living leaders have been focused on health and safety as they grapple with the deadly rate of virus infections and its impact on the lives of millions of older adults, staff and their families. Attention is now on the distribution of a vaccine; our industry needs to begin thinking about rebuilding. To help with this, TimeSlips has partnered with the #ActivitiesStrong initiative led by Linked Senior to launch Shine Your Light – a celebration to illuminate the industry with creative care and celebrate activity and life enrichment professionals and their residents.

The celebration will kick off on January 25th during National Activity Professionals Week and end on February 26th. Through this five-week period, the collaboration will be supporting senior living communities in collaborating with the older adults so they can find purpose every day. Each week, a new guide including prompts for creative conversations and suggestions for engaging activities on the theme of “light” will be made available to participating communities. These guides will inspire both residents and staff to find joy and meaning through creative engagement and support them in creating a final “celebration of light,” where communities can share their creativity (and light) with others.

“Activity and life enrichment leaders have been essential to our industry as they continue to fight for the basic human right of each resident to find purpose every day,” shared Charles de Vilmorin, CEO and Co-founder of Linked Senior. “TimeSlips is at the forefront of bringing joy and creative engagement into the lives of older adults, especially those living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. It is an honor to partner with them and NAAP to support senior living and celebrate 2021 as the year of resident engagement.”

Alisa Tagg, Association Director at the National Association of Activity Professionals (NAAP), an #ActivitiesStrong partner, shared that, “We are proud to partner with TimeSlips to support activity professionals in providing engagement they want and that residents deserve. NAAP has always been focused on advancing the work of activity directors especially throughout this pandemic when engaging older adults meaningfully has been so challenging. We are happy to be leading the way for creative engagement as part of the Shine Your Light celebration.”

The TimeSlips team shared, “We are delighted to be partnering with Linked Senior and the #ActivitiesStrong initiative to support activity and life enrichment leaders across the country and empower them to use creative engagement as a way to bring joy and meaning into the lives of older adults. We hope that by participating in this celebration, professionals will find new ways to create meaningful moments with their residents and be inspired to join our “creative care revolution”, helping to reimagine the way the world thinks about aging.”

Linked Senior will be hosting an #ActivitiesStrong webinar on Tuesday, January 19th at 1pm EST featuring Sam Goodrich and Andrew Morton, project managers and master trainers at TimeSlips. The webinar is called, “TimeSlips: Shining a Light on Creative Engagement.” Sam and Andrew will demonstrate TimeSlips creative engagement techniques that have been proven to bring joy and meaning into the lives of older adults through positive and playful relationships, helping to end the isolation and loneliness that can wrap itself around those in late life, or those experiencing dementia.

Linked Senior is an evidence-based resident engagement platform for senior living. The platform optimizes the person-centered experience for residents by empowering staff with digital tools to assess, plan, implement and evaluate engagement for the entire resident population.
