Programming for Purposeful Living

Wellness is commonly viewed as having seven dimensions: intellectual, physical, social, emotional, spiritual, environmental, and vocational. Vocational wellness refers to using your knowledge, skills, and talents in such a way that enhances one’s sense of purposefulness. No matter age or ability, we all want to feel like we have a purpose and something to contribute. In this session we will hone in on this dimension of wellness and the role it plays in feeling like we are advancing in age with a sense of purpose. We will also explore ways in which we can incorporate occupational wellness into programming at all levels of care.

Objectives

  • Have clear understanding of what occupational wellness is and it's why it is considered one of the essential domains of wellness.
  • Conceptualize what occupational wellness looks like in the context of Senior Care Environments
  • Walk away with ideas and practical knowledge for how one can incorporate occupational wellness programming for seniors at all levels of care and ability.
