BILLINGS, Mont. – MorningStar Senior Living has implemented LifeLoop, a software app designed to improve administrative tasks and resident care. This initiative has led to national recognition for the staff's dedication to their residents.
For several years, the LifeLoop app has been used at MorningStar to streamline administrative work. Thomas Jones, LifeLoop Senior Director of Customer Services, highlighted the app's benefits, saying, “It’s really an opportunity to automate as much as we can so the people who work here can spend more time with the residents.”
The focus on time and connection is crucial in assisted living and senior care facilities. Laura Smith, MorningStar Life Enrichment Director, emphasized the importance of resident connections. “The connection with the residents is so important because growing older is scary sometimes and when you live in a place where you feel appreciated and known and everyone knows your name it really helps them feel like you know them so it really works two ways because I can honestly say the people who live here are my friends and it doesn’t feel like a job to me at all," she said.

Smith explained that LifeLoop has allowed staff to focus more on building relationships instead of being bogged down by administrative tasks. MorningStar resident Geri Yanc shared her positive experience, stating, “Once you go to a senior living place, your life changes, so you get new friends. And everybody here all the help is very very friendly, I tell everybody, it’s not home but if you have to be someplace it’s the place to be.”
MorningStar's effective use of LifeLoop to foster staff and resident connections earned them the Communities That Shine Award, a national accolade from the app's company. Jones acknowledged the significance of the award, saying, “This is a Real Award and it’s meaningful because it means that Laura and MorningStar are being recognized for doing things the right way and it’s amid really heavy competition.”
Despite the recognition, Smith and the staff see their work as more than just a job. “It’s a bit surreal just for the fact that I don’t feel like I’m doing anything special, I do this because I love it and just being recognized for doing something I love is it just blows my mind,” Smith expressed.
