Expanding Cultural Diversity in Senior Living

What defines "customary norms" within senior living; usually, a combination of the individuals that reside in the senior living community and the caregivers that carry out the tasks that help the residents receive person-centered care. As you reflect on what is “customary” in your senior living community would you agree that it encompasses the language, values, traditions, beliefs, pastimes, and customs that shape your resident’s identities? Or do the customary norms only reflect a subset of the residents and is there room for growth? In this webinar, LaShuan Bethea, Executive Director of NCAL, will highlight areas of opportunity to expand cultural diversity resulting in an increase in resident and employee satisfaction in long-term care.

Attendees will be able to:
  • Verbalize the connection between person-centered care and cultural diversity.
  • Identify three areas of opportunity to expand cultural diversity within long-term care.
  • Identify two to three methods to expand cultural awareness among residents and staff.
