This unique gathering explores how writing—whether through poetry, autobiographies, advocacy documents, plays, or digital platforms like blogs and social media—serves as a powerful medium for self-expression and connection, especially for those navigating the complexities of cognitive challenges.
The playwright shares insights on how storytelling can transcend the barriers of memory and perception, allowing for the expression of inner thoughts and emotions. The panel explores how writing can advocate for change, build community, and resonate deeply with readers, creating a shared understanding and respect for all people, living with cognitive change—or not!

This session features a man who wrote and stars in a one-person play and a group of women sharing their video project on the “masks” they wear. A professional storyteller ties these narratives together, showing how creative expression fosters connection, challenges stigma, and affirms the humanity of those living with dementia.
