Watercrest Newnan and Moosehaven
We did a few cruises as we worked our way down from Georgia to Florida. Our first stop was at a Watercrest community in Newnan, Georgia that is wrapping up construction. They are still 6 to 8 weeks from opening and the community is spectacular (Watercrest communities always are!). The staff took a break from preopening construction to throw an impromptu party. We cruised around Newnan with their staff and got a very cool tour. Did you know a lot of “The Walking Dead” was filmed in Newnan, and that they have a completely authentic haunted house that has been in multiple horror films throughout the last few decades? Stay tuned for the video and you’ll see it up close. Thanks to Watercrest – you are so busy preparing for the opening and you still made time for Nathan and me.
From there it was a few-hour drive down to Orange Park, Florida, where we had the pleasure of cruising and crooning at Moosehaven, a remarkable community right on the water. This community lives and breathes history and compassion. They have been a long-time iN2L customer thanks to the vision of their CEO, John Capes. John was out of town for our visit but no worries, we had Ms. Moosehaven! Virginia Winkler, one of their delightful residents, was crowned Ms. Moosehaven this year, and she embraced the role, decked out in her tiara and full sash – yozza! Virginia and her husband Ray were enthusiastic participants in the run through the community. We were delighted to hear their love story as we cruised and sang. We also got some history of Moosehaven along the way – it’s an order dedicated to helping children and older adults, a remarkable organization. Bill, thanks for putting the show together and Brenda, thanks for being the historian! Virginia said she would sponsor me to be a Moose. Send me the details!
